Connecting Cinema display with new mac

I have a 30" cinema display that is currently connected to a mini displayport to dual link dvi-adaptor which is plugged into my 2010 macbook pro 13"... I am looking to get a new macbook pro but before I pull the trigger will this monitor and adapter work? I understand the new mac's have thunderbolt 3 which I was told has the same shape. I love my cinema display and dont want to not be able to use it on the new setup

No. Not the same shape at all. Thunderbolt 3 uses the USB-C type of port. While Mini Display port uses the Thunderbolt 2 type of port.

In addition to that, the Dual DVI Cinema displays are not supported by the Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter:

In short, you will not be able to use that display with a new Mac.

The Thunderbolt-3 adapter won't work. You need a USB-C to Mini DisplayPort Adapter to use with you existing Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI adapter.

(Some USB-C adapters may not work in conjunction with other adapters. The UPTab adapter specifically says it will.)

You will also need a USB-A to USB-C adapter for your DVI adapter's USB plug.
