How do i add an ipod nano to my list of authorized devices on iTunes?

I recently replaced my Mac Book with a PC and transferred my iTunes library to the PC. However, i get the following message when i try to sync my iPod Nano with my PC-based iTunes: 'to sync, i must turn on iCloud Music Library to play Apple Music songs'. The bulk of my songs were not purchased on iTunes (they are from my CDs) and even these songs wont download to my Nano. The Nano is not included in my list of authorized devices (even though it was on Mac Book) and i cant find instructions on how to get it added to the authorized device list. does anyone have any insights on this?

The iPod nano does not need to be added to the list of authorised devices, mainly because it cannot have Apple Music added to it.

iTunes should recognise the nano, although in my experience, iTunes can take up to two minutes after the iPod is plugged into the computer before it sees the iPod. (It might be my computer of course...)

Once the iPod is seen by iTunes, you need to think of it as a new iPod (because it's "new" to this iTunes Library). As a consequence, you need to set Sync preferences in order to get music on it. Using iTunes, look on the Device/Settings/Music pane.
