I’ve purchased a used iPod touch (red) edition through eBay uk, iCloud locked

Hello!

I’ve purchased a used iPod touch through eBay uk, the seller said he owns a pub, and devices of all descriptions are regularly abandoned there, and never reclaimed. So I bid on a (locked) iPod touch for £4 after googling how to unlock iCloud, which I have found to my cost, is pretty impossible. Is there a way I can wipe this iPod clean so I can use it properly, or a way I can reunite this with it’s owner? I can’t believe there’s a mountain of locked devices out there being thrown away!

There is no way you can get access. See: hhttp://support.apple.com/kb/ht5818

Look at eBay's buyer protection program to see if you can get your money back.

Opening that iPod Touch is not going to help you with defeating the software Activation Lock.

And if you screw anything up in the DIY, then that iPod Touch IS REALLY USELESS TO YOU, then.

You don't have an Apple Store close by to drive to and simply have Apple recycle this device?

Thanks for replying, Bob. Seems I’ve inadvertently found my first DIY electronics project, I’ve bought a soldering iron, I’ll be opening it up this weekend, hope my hands are steady enough!!
