IPAD 2 IOS Upgrade from 9 to 10

Is it possible to upgrade operating system above version 9.3.5 ? I want to install DropBox and when I try I receive a message that says "Must have IOS 10.0 or later". When I try to update the IOS, I receive a message that says I have the latest for my IPAD.

iPad 2, iOS 9

Older versions of apps may still exist in the iOS App Store, despite the fact the apps may have moved on to an higher minimum iOS version, now.

If you need older versions of apps that have moved on to iOS 10 and later, tap on my link below and choose the method that best works with your current situation.

CAREFULLY read and follow ALL directions. Especially so for my computer/older iTunes procedures.

Any and all three of my procedures/solutions work!

Downloading Older iOS 9.3.5 Versions of A… - Apple Community

A Disclaimer.

Apps may or may not have older iOS 9.3.5 versions still available from within the iOS App Store.

There are three ways to try/attempt to get an older version of an app. Pick the method that works best for your situation/circumstances.

Also, I would STOP using that nearly 3-year old Safari web browser, as it is, probably, not safe and secure to use any longer, and seek out a third party web browser that is STILL currently being updated and STILL being supported on iOS 9.3.5.

Heed my advice on this issue in my above link.

I am not sure you understood my instructions.

You use the older 12.6.5 version of iTunes so you can download the CURRENT version of the app into iTunes.

Then, go back to your older iPad and in the iOS App Store under Purchases, you look for the DropBox app.

Then, try tapping the download “cloud” icon next to the DropBox app, in this location, to see if the small window pop-up prompt that states that there is an older version of the app that is compatible with your device. Would you like to download this version now?

Tap the OK button just below the prompt to start the downloading of the older app version to your iPad.

Is this what you did?

You are NOT going to get an older version of the app using an older version of iTunes on the computer.

You download the most current version of any app to the older iTunes 12.6.5 version, then attempt to get the older version of the app on your older iDevice after downloading the current version of the app into iTunes 12.6.5.

Is this what you did?

For any older app versions, that may still exist in the iOS App Store, this is THE iTunes procedure that will work every time to obtain older versions of apps for your older iPad. Not just to get a single app.

There are older versions of DropBox, FYI.

You just have not followed or understood my procedures.

I just got my version of DropBox for my iOS 5.1.1, first gen 2010 iPad, 2-3 months ago, using the iTunes method, then going back to that 2010 iPad and downloaded the older version under the iOS App Store app Purchases section on that 9-year old iPad.

It is available for older versions, but whatever, I am done with this.

I tried.

Others have been able to get older versions of apps using this method.

I have been posting this method for nearly three years, now.

I am done.

Purchase a new iPad. That will solve all of your issues.

Good Luck!
