Ever since upgrading it's so frustrating because the autocorrect 100% of the time changes me to mr. I talk about me a lot! I finally gave up and just leave it to mr! I hope they fix this soon.
And what do you do when you see it auto correct to Mr. Do you before pressing space go and tap the X to tell it not to, thus teach it what you prefer? At times it takes more than once as with each cancel of an auto correct you are changing the weighted value in the algorithm.
Usually i'm typing so fast I never see the x. I have gone backed up and waited for "me" to appear and click on that but it's been weeks now and it still prefers "mr". You think I just need to be more patient and train it some more?
You will be happy to know that you're not alone. I also have this issue. Though when I type "me" I get either Mr or Ms 100% of the time and it just blows my mind. I've owned and used every iPhone that has come out and I have never had something so asinine like this happen. It's quite frustrating, particularly because it's "me", it's not something like "anchovy". Like you, I've been trying to "train" my autocorrect stuff for several weeks now and it gets me no where. --sigh--
I have never regretted an apple purchase until iPhone 4. I'm already stuck sitting on the magic fix for the reception issues that will never come. I may as well wait for the fix on this one too.
My husband's name is Kevin but I always call him Kev for short. Autocorrect constantly changes this to keV. I have tried about 50 times in a row to hit the "x" to help it to learn that's not what I want, but it won't change. I have also gone in and reset my dictionary. Any other suggestions?
I have read all the answers and all have the same thing to say... Once your phone learns by correction that you want to say me and not mr it will stop correcting me to mr.... This is not the case> have written me 100 times and every time it corrects to mr. Let me give an obvious less on English. The title mr is written MR. and therefore the iPhone correction is wrong in the first place and in the second place me is used in the english language 98.7% more than Mr. Source (me).
ok so i found the fix to this problem since i was having it happen to me as well!!
"the most common reason it does this is because you have a contact with the word 'mr' in the name. Compose a new text message, type 'mr' in the To: field and you will see which contact is causing this from the autocomplete. At this point you can either edit the contact, put up with the autocomplete issue or disable autocomplete entirely."
I change the "Mr" in my contact and now the word "me" works in text. whooo hoooo
Go into your notes app and type numerous sentences with me. then type one with mr, type some more with me. This makes the software "learn" that when you type ME, you mean ME. problem solved.
Hey, this might sound ridiculous but I've found that the me/mr issue is based on where you touch the e key. If you press it on the right part of the e key, it will autocorrect; if you press e in the middle or slightly on the left, it won't. I've managed to reproduce this every time just by altering thumb position. Requires precision typing apparently!
I just went and changed all Mr. in my phone book and still was getting me changed to mr... But started being more conscious of where I pressed. Staying more to the left aide of the e definitely helps.
JT7000 is correct. I've done this awhile ago and established that it depends on how close to the right or left you press the "e" key after "m" will it determine which one you mean. Sounds like a software bug now, lol.
