Burning cds from itunes

I know it's old-school, but I've been burning cds for years and now suddenly im having issues.

I have tried a Dell external drive and LG. Both are giving me the same malfunction so it must be that iTunes is where the problem lies.

Here is what happens:

I select a playlist- select burn playlist to disk- the process begins- burn disc initializing- then it starts burning some random song that was not selected.

It wont burn the one I want. Any suggestions out there?
