Phishing Scam

I've been receiving emails for like a year saying they are from apple telling me that they locked my account because they could not verify my billing and payment options, they threaten to delete my account if I don't contact them and verify the information. The thing is I removed those two things because I no longer have them as in a physical form, well at least the payment option i no longer have one, I have not credit card or other ways of payment. The recent email came in a language I could not read, by what google translate said it was Arabic or a similar language, I contacted Apple directly and reported the emails, but I also want to share my concerns here and ask if those scamers have any real power over the future of my account?

Unless you followed a link they provided and put your login information in, they don't.

You receive so many because

  • your email address is known to be a valid one - possibly on some list on the Dark Web > https://haveibeenpwned.com/
  • it is easy to guess - a common "name" with extra characters perhaps?

You can help fight this in your own little way by reporting it to Apple - see how within
