Mail checking when in manual

I have switched to use spark email client, but kept my mail accounts signed in on my iPhone and set fetch to manually and set email checking on all accounts to manual but for some reason, my phone is still checking for new mail. This is in turn draining my battery faster than I would like.

Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Can’t push email to mail app on iPhone 11 E-mail that is sent to my mail app doesn’t get pushed on my iPhone. I have to refresh manually. This problem occurs on the Gmail app as well as the Apple Mail app. I noticed an option in the "Settings>Password&Accounts>FetchNewData" that my mail account is set to 'fetch', but I cant select 'push' there. It doesn’t exist. The general new data fetch is set to do it automatically.

When done, force close the mail app. If it remains open, it keeps on searching for new mail messages.
