You can't change the size of the system font. Individual apps may allow you to increase or decrease font size, such as Safari or word processing apps like TextEdit.
If you find the screen is too high a resolution for your eyes, then open the Displays preference panel and change the screen't resolution to one more suitable to you.

If you change the resolution down a notch, it will make all the pixels making up your screen larger, but also not quite as crisp and sharp. I've done that and I also increased the size of Finder fonts by going to Finder > View Options and increasing the text size.
