Windows 10 iCloud continiously asks for credentials, stuck 'Initializing'

Windows 10 iCloud continuously asks for credentials, stuck 'Initializing' using the latest version of iCloud for Windows and an up to date Windows 10 on Microsoft Surface Pro

Previously I was using iCloud for Windows version 7.8 as it was working fine, however Windows no longer allows this older version to be installed.

Hi StealthGER,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having trouble using iCloud for Windows on your Surface Pro. I’m happy to help. I suggest taking a look at the articles below:

Using Surface with iPhone, iCloud, and iTunes

Set up and use iCloud for Windows - Apple Support

Should the issue persist, I suggest uninstalling and then reinstalling iCloud for Windows. You can find instructions for doing so in the second article.

Take care.

Hi i_rina,

thanks for your reply, unfortunately the links that you provided don't solve my issues. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling iCloud for Windows without success. As I mentioned previously an older version of iCloud for Windows was working just fine until I had to update to the latest version.

I also noted that iCloud continuously prompts for the two factor authentication:

iCloud stuck in "Initialising" state:

There are no other error messages in iCloud Settings:

Are there any other steps we can check to hopefully get this resolved quickly?

Thanks,

Seb
