iCloud breach phone call

I just got a robo-call from 800-692-7753 saying its from Apple and my iCloud account has been breached and to press a # to speak with a representative or call another 800 number. Assume it is a scam but how would Apple contact customers if there actually was a breach??

Greetings, Lalitah.

I see that you've correctly surmised that you've received a phishing attempt from a phone call stating they were from Apple. You're wondering how Apple would contact customers if there were an actual breech, and I'm happy to help.

Avoid phishing emails, fake 'virus' alerts, phony support calls, and other scams -- The way that customers are informed of an issue depends on what the issue is. This article provides the information you need to protect your personal data and steps to use to report the attempt.

Contact Apple for support and service -- This article provides Apple phone numbers around the world. If you receive a phishing call, you're advised to call Apple yourself after you end the call.

Take care.
