iPod and CarPlay

will the latest iPod work with CarPlay? I would really rather not plug in my phone every time I want to use CarPlay.

CarPlay only works with iPhones - basically the iPhone 5 on up.

Wireless CarPlay was introduced a few iOS versions ago which does not require one to plug in their iPhone but only a handful (and growing) cars / headunits support it.
