iOS 12.2 Wi-Fi problems

Anyone else experienced wifi disconnections on the brand new iOS update?

Me and my friend updated from iOS 12.1.4 to iOS 12.2 yesterday and both of our iPhones has the same problem with wifi connections.

This is an iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, so not old ones, but after this update the wifi connection disconnected continuously.

It's a shame of the Apple!

Ps.: There is the same wifi connection problems with the brand new macOS 10.14.4 on Macbook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2015)

iPhone 8, iOS 12

Hi All.

I ended up solving the problem for myself. I was having no WiFi signal icon show up on the top bar of my home screen (where the battery icon and LTE icons are) and had trouble accessing apps when connected to WiFi or LTE. It turns out my problem had to do with my VPN settings.

To fix this, I went to Settings --> General --> VPN --> Clicked on my VPN (i) logo --> Disabled "Connect on Demand."

Now my WiFi is working back to normal, as well as my LTE, and I'm able to access my apps like Spotify, WhatsApp and more...

Hope this helps some of you.

I was using VPN Unlimited and deleted the VPN configuration from General > VPN > clicking on the (i) icon and removing/deleting the configuration. I immediately got my WiFi back. It jacked up my VPN Unlimited software for a minute. It kept telling me the user name and password that was being sent was empty. After a couple tries, it came back. Weird. After re-adding my VPN configuration through the VPN app, everything is back to normal. I get my Wifi icon at the top and my VPN is working like normal. Tested it again by stopping my VPN through the VPN app and the wifi is still working.

I HAD automatic iOS update on and my iPad updated to iOS 12.2 during night. After that wifi disconnected no matter with what instructions I tried to fix it. So I have NordVPN and thought to give it a try and I signed off from VPN server and my wifi instantly came back. After signing in again to VPN, everything works like charm. Thanks!

I bought an Apple watch a couple of days ago and then found out that it could not be activated without WiFi on my phone. So I was stuck with two useless and expensive Apple products. Out of desperation I called the nearest Apple store, an hour's drive, and asked to speak to the manager. I made an appointment to come in today and one of the "geniuses" at the genius bar solved my problem in no time by deleting the VPN. That's what was causing the problem! How come Apple senior support never suggested that?

I am also having this issue along with my wife. We are both on 12.2, I am on an iPhone XS and she is on an iPhone X. We both attempted Network Settings resets in addition to a restore via iTunes. I set my device up as new and did not restore from a backup, the issue persists. Before I did a restore and setup as new, when the device would not connect to WiFi, turning off and on did not work, I had to forget the network and connect again with the password. Now, at the very least, when the WiFi drops I just turn off WiFi and turn it back on and it seems to connect. Still no less it is quite frustrating. Since 12.1.4 is no longer being signed, it seems we are stuck waiting for an update.

I wiped the phone clean and started as though I were the first owner. It still gave me the incorrect password error message for WiFi. I used AirPort Utility to change the WiFi password. Of course, to do this I had to first type in the supposedly "incorrect" password. After I changed the password to a really simple one, my iPhone X was finally able to access my home network. I then restored the phone from my Windows computer, loading back the numerous apps. Having access to WiFi on the phone enabled me to update the operating system on my Apple Watch gen 4. So now it's all good, but I'm bitter about this experience which is Apple's fault. Their update of IOS 11 to IOS 12 is what started the problem in the first place.

Having similar problems after 12.2 update in Iphone 8+. I have 3 wlan routers, one F-secure Sense and Two Asus RT-N56U:s.

Iphone with IOS 12.2 can join all of those, but for the Asus routers no traffic is getting pass the GW to internet, just a white screen (I can access the routers https management interface though). When joining to F-Secure Sense everything works.

There is something strange with the 12.2 Wifi, because this started after upgrade to 12.2 and my another Iphone (6s) with 12.1.4 works just fine with all of these routers. Same goes with all of my other wifi enabled devices, just this 12.2 IOS refuses to work with Asus Wlan routers.

Have tried:

Rebooting the phone.

Resetting the network settings.

Removing the wlan connection and rejoining.

Without any changes.

My iphone works perfectly fine until last week. I updated to ios 12.2 last week and my phone starts disconnecting from Wifi very often! It shows wrong password popup even if i enter the correct password, after few minutes it gets automatically connected to wifi!! I did factory restore, resetting router/Phone, VPN is turned off, tried forget password, hard reset method but nothing works! After reading many reviews, I could see that the issue is with the latest ios update and not the phone!!

APPLE!! PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ASAP!!!!

Something strange has happened ( I was one of the ones suffering from this issue too). Two days ago, my iPad said that it hadn’t performed a back up as ‘it hadn’t connected to internet for 2 weeks) since I’d done the IOS update, I’d ascertained. I managed to do it manually by going to my iCloud settings. It didn’t take long. Since then, I have mysteriously managed to use my iPad. The wi-fi signal isn’t perfect, but it’s 100 times better than it was. I thought I’d mention it just in case it helps anyone else - try backing up to iCloud manually, it might kick start something? If it wasn’t that, Apple have mysteriously done something that I don’t know about, to make my IPad work again.
