Preview app will not open (10.14.4)

I now find, since updating to the latest version, that Preview app will not open even the smallest of images (258 kb). Its seems to be stuck in the "not responding" setting.

Have tried restarting the iMac but still no go.

Anyone have some suggestions?

Well - what do you know. I ran with this suggestion;

Open your user/Library folder by holding down the Option key and selecting "Library" from the Go menu in Finder.

Open the Containers folder and delete the com.apple.preview folder.

And it now opens my images; .jpg, .png, pdfs

Thanks for your help

If the Preview reset dialabrain suggest does not work please do the following and we can look for obvious issues.

Please navigate to the Mac App Store and download the free version of EtreCheck OR please click www.EtreCheck.com where you will find the app. Once you downloaded the free app and created the report please post it as your reply to this post. In order to post it, please use the following link for more detailed instructions on how to correctly post the results:

Well I have re-set NVRAM - no change. Re-set SMC still no change. Re-booted- no change.

Very frustrating as I cannot open many pdfs unless I use Adobe Reader, which I prefer not to. Also screenshots I have taken

will only open in Preview not Adobe and very few other apps, which don't allow me to annotate, crop and/or highlight.

Think its time to talk to Applecare.
