I need a new track pad for my MAcBook Pro 15 inch screen Serial number C0******V35

My track pad is really hard to click. You have to really press hard on the track pad to check the computer to select something. Does anyone know where you can get a track pad for this older MAckBook Pro?

Wisconsin makes things easy. Is it a Retina MacBook Pro?

If it is not a Retina: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBook-Pro-15-TrackPad-p-22507.html

If a Retina model: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/MacBook-Pro-15-Retina-Top-Case-w--Battery-Mid-2012---Early-2013-p-24073.html

Huge price difference. Note that the vendor is selling used parts; I know of no source of new parts for that model.

Your best action is to find an independent Apple service technician who is will to work on older models and let that person see what can be done. They may know of some obscure trick to dealing with a trackpad that is sealed to the upper unit.

A couple of things:

First, "where can I get..." questions are nearly impossible to answer unless you tell us roughly where in the world you are--a country is close enough. These are international forums and it does you little good if we recommend a source that will not ship to your country or region.

Second, the Hosts redacted your serial number for security reasons so we cannot determine your computer's sub-model--the bit with a year displayed. Instead, please do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and tell us the sub-model that shows:

That helps in that, in the 13 years MacBook Pros have been made, Apple has changed the way trackpads are attached. In some newer Retina models they cannot be replaced without replacing the entire upper case including keyboard and possibly the battery. Could be very costly...parts alone listed on one repair site are US$700 if you supply do the labor at home.

In addition to the fine advice Allan Jones already provided, you should know: hard-to-press trackpad is not a common Trackpad malfunction.

One of the main reasons a trackpad is hard to press is NOT a trackpad problem -- it is as swollen battery problem. Battery swelling limits the amount of movement of the trackpad, and appears to make it difficult to press.

If the cable is good and only the trackpad—it may be you do not have to pull the entire logic board.

These connections are easily damaged. You can see the process here.

batteries can be had from OWC Apple Battery Replacements for MacBook Pro and MacBook Air

Powebook medic— if they are out of stock in their brick and mortar, they also sell on eBay— check there.

Have you made any adjustment to make the trackpad work for you better?
