I was curious what are usually sees if someone simply turns off our location services without suspending the sharing

I was curious why sometimes peoples locations are listed as say “32min” VS “now”? Is it because somebody turns off their location services to avoid being detected as a “stopped sharing location”

It simply means that the last location was 32 minutes ago. There is no way of know why there hasn't been an update. There are many possibilities:

  • No cellular signal
  • Phone in Airplane mode
  • Location services off (as you asked)
  • The phone was put in a metal locker
  • The phone is in a building location that has little or weak signal
  • The phone was turned off
