iPhone 5s, unable to restore

Hi,

Tried updating my old iPhone 5s. But this has put it in a permanent restore mode. The screen on the phone shows the 'plugin to iTunes' logo, and abowe it, the 'support.apple.com/iphone/restore' web adresse. I have plugged it to my pc, and the extraction of the software begins. After this, the pc (running windows 7) tells me that the USB port has detected a malfunctioned device and suggests removing it... Meanwhile, iTunes keeps 'Waiting for iPhone', which is exactly the issue. My pc won't recognize a malfunctioned device...

Anyway, I am not able to completely restore my device, and i'm pretty lost at this point...

Any advice?

Hi Mickey82,

It sounds like you're having some trouble restoring your iPhone from iTunes on your PC. I know it's important to get this working and I want to help.

Since you're receiving an error from iTunes it might be a good idea to remove and reinstall iTunes as seen here:

Remove and reinstall iTunes and related software components for Windows 7 and later - Apple Support

Then you would follow the steps to restore from recovery mode. Be sure to choose the Restore option during step 4:

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

If this continues to be an issue, you could try using a different computer to restore your device, or visiting the nearest Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
