Does anyone know how to transfer WhatsApp messages from an android phone (HTC10) to a new iPhone please

There's no way you can do that.
WhatsApp backup is stored in Google Drive, while iOS stores the backup in iCloud drive. Both of them uses different encryption and thus, it is not possible to transfer old WhatsApp messages from Android to iOS.
However, from Android device, you can export chat one by one in your email to keep their history for future reference. There's no way to import that same history on iPhone.
Strage, but that's the fact.
