How can I update my IPad Mini 2 to IOS 12 from IOS 10.2.1? When I go to updates, I get an error as I don't think this IPad will update to 12.2. I am not sure how it went backwards to 10.2.1, but I need it to update!

Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - When you update you will only be given one update selection which will be the highest available iOS version supported by your device. If it says no update is available and you need a higher version you will have to buy newer equipment. https://support.apple.com/HT204204

When you skip multiple over the air updates as you've done, it becomes nearly impossible to update over the air. You should make sure you have the latest version of iTunes on your home computer and connect your iPad via USB and do the update with iTunes.

A mini2 should be able to update to the most recent. What is the wording of the error message?

Ok. Thank you for replying.. That might be then the hang up. I've tried repeatedly to update it and keep getting an error. I thought it was because it wasn't able to update to 12.2 but it must be something else... I deleted several apps to open up room for the update but still get the error

this is what I get... it looks like the IOS 12.2 downloaded but won't install. I can see it in my storage.
