Its a scam email. Do not click on the link, and do not provide any info to the website it opens.

While the iforgot.apple.com website is legit, the actual url underlying that link in the email does not take you there. It takes you to: https: // t.co / 8FHsrklP7G, which is definitely not an Apple website.

2 things to keep in mind:

  1. Apple will never ever send you an email stating your account has been locked
  2. Apple will never threaten to disable an account permanently, for any reason.

hi Limnos did you ever receive email from noreplyappidreport01@smtpuserid.com

Your Apple ID has been temporarily disabled for security reason.

When you see this alerts, you can go to iforgot.apple.comto unlock your account with your existing password.

Your account will permanently disabled if you do not verify your account under 24 hours.

Sincerely,

The site as you presented it in your question is legitimate, but as others have noted, the hidden link is not. This is very easy to fake which is why you should always mouse over any links to see to where they actually lead. I use Firefox and they are revealed in the bottom left of my window.

This is also why it helps to provide more context to a question.

That link doesn't point to Apple's servers; in addition, if an Apple ID is locked or disabled, the owner will be told when they try logging into it instead of through email.

The site is legitimate if you visit it manually, but links to it or other websites can easily be forged.

Forward the message to reportphishing@apple.com as an attachment and then delete it.
