Amex won’t work in certain stores with Apple Pay

One store in particular that I try to use my Amex card in Apple Pay gets declined. Ive used it other places with no problems. And the particular store never declines my other cards in Apple Pay. Any ideas why?

Many businesses do not accept American Express. That is why the card is declined I think.

The physical card works fine, it’s just on Apple Pay
