I all of a sudden got an email saying that I will be charged 9.99 a month for some type of Apple Music Membership. I have never signed up for that but it says it will be taken out monthly starting in May.

You may have initiated the free trial by accident in iTunes. As you are still in the free trial period you can just cancel it before you are charged:
