Reactivated SIM after being overseas

I just reactivated my sim card after being overseas for a month and my messages will only send from my icloud email . I told my partner to save my email to my existing contact and now all of his messages and everything between us are gone . How do I resolve this ? I don’t understand it .

iPhone XS Max, iOS 12

Hey j_isabelll,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! I can definitely appreciate why you be concerned about your messages not sending, so I wanted to reach out and make sure that I got an answer to you. If your iMessages are sending without issue, there's a strong possibility that the problem exists solely on your carrier side, since they handle all SMS and MMS messaging. You can take a look at this article to see what options are available on the Apple side: If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support though the issue seems like it's with your base service so you should be ready to reach out to them, too.

Cheers!
