All my new iMessage conversations from my Mac are coming from my email, and it won't let me add my iPhone number, or any other source. How do I fix this?

The iMessages I'm sending from my Mac are coming from my email, but they used to come from my iPhone number. When I go into my messages preferences to re-add my iPhone number as the source when Messages are coming from, it won't let me add anything.

MacBook Air 13", macOS 10.13
