i wiped the sad drive and somehow got out of that and when i tried to restart i get a flashing folder icon with a question mark in the center.

Did you restart in macOS Recovery?
IF you erased all the hard drive, then the internal 'recovery' partition
may also be gone entirely. The keyboard shortcuts vary according to
what you need to do, and how the mac may respond in Recovery.

thx for the help i was able to restart and repair drive wasn't able to back up from restore point but I'm in the process of reinstalling OS X
