Can not delete the previous user ID from the sign in box, help!
I'm trying to upgrade my mac book pro to Mojave, then ID & password box shows up but the previous user ID in the box that I can't change..

That means you are using a second-hand computer that is still configured for the original user. In order for you to have the computer setup for you under your Apple ID and ownership, you must completely erase the disk and install the original version of macOS with which it came when new. That should have been provided by the person from whom you acquired the computer. Since you haven't provided your exact model we cannot be of much further help. To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities' folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right. You may also find the complete model information by selecting About This Mac from the Apple menu.

Selection A should be used on computers that came with Lion or later when factory new. These models had no disks included when new. Selection B is for Macs that came originally with Snow Leopard or earlier. These models shipped with Software Restore disks when new.
