My new MacBook Pro trackpad freezes.

I’m unable to enjoy my new MacBook Pro because my trackpad freezes as a result the pointer doesn’t respond. What should I do, please?

MacBook Pro 13”, macOS 10.14

Have you tried (can you try) these things:

1) restart in Safe Mode (hold the shift key while restarting until the Apple icon appears) Since this restarts with many drivers disabled it can help determine if there is a driver incompatibility

2) create a new user account and log into it - this can help determine if you've got something going on in your account that isn't affecting other accounts

3) Reset NVRAM or PRAM on your Mac - Apple Support

4) How to reset the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac - Apple Support

5) erase & reinstall the operating system

If you called AppleCare you'd be instructed to go through most (or all) of this list and if you went to the Apple genius you'd probably see him/her go through it as well
