Also, please, note that in order to use two different carriers, your iPhone must be unlocked from a carrier. Otherwise, both plans must be from the same carrier.
If a CDMA carrier provides your first SIM, your second SIM won't support CDMA.
This is how it works now.
Yes, sorry I forgot to mention that. My hope is to make the Verizon number primary and use the eSIM. While the US Cellular number is secondary, and using the physical SIM.
Does it matter that both Verizon and US Cellular are CDMA?
Well I have my XR setup now with the Verizon line using the eSIM and a physical SIM from US Cellular. My problem is that if I designate the Verizon eSIM line as the one to use for data, I lose the connection to US Cellular for voice and SMS.
But if I reverse things and tell the phone to use US Cellular for data, I can still use Verizon for voice and SMS and US Cellular for data, voice, and SMS.
Unfortunately this is not the arrangement that I want. I want to use Verizon for data, not US Cellular.
Any thoughts?
According to this page it seems like US Cellular doesn't support eSIM technology. But, you can use a physical SIM from them and set up Verizon via eSIM.
