Auto Boot

Hello, I just bought a 2018 A1932 Model MacBook Air and when I press a key when it's shut down, it boots automatically. How to stop this?

Hi,

I have done some digging for you.

For your Macbook Air 2018, it is normal for it to do the following.

  • Open the lid of your Mac, even if it's not connected to power.
  • Connect your Mac to a power adapter while its lid is open3.
  • Connect your Mac to a power adapter while its lid is closed and it's connected to an external display.

Additionally, MacBook Pro (2018) turns on when you press any key on the keyboard or press the trackpad.

Well we will have to turn the auto boot off all together, as it linked to the same setting.

So you will need to press power button every time,

  1. Open the Terminal, which is found in /Applications/Utilities/, and then enter the following command syntax exactly:

sudo nvram AutoBoot=%00 (if you ever need to turn auto boot on again you use this sudo nvram AutoBoot=%03)

  1. Hit return and authenticate with the admin password (necessary due to sudo)
  2. Exit Terminal when finished

now shut down the computer and give it a try.
