No sound through iPhone when connected to my 2019 CrossTrek through CarPlay

I hunted high and low on this website to solve the problem of having no sound either way on calls when my iPhone was connected through CarPlay to my CrossTrek's audio system. There were many many suggestions ("turn off BlueTooth" "talk directly to Apple" etc etc). Eventually I went to my Subaru service people. Here is the solution to the problem, and it has nothing to do with Apple, so don't bother them.


In the Controls on the home screen on your dashboard, go to Settings. Go to Sound. Go to Phone. Turn up the volume.
