iphoto library upgrader won't install

I have transferred an old iPhoto library from an old iMac to a newer iMac and when I try to open it, it says I need to download iPhoto Library Upgrader. I follow the link and download the app but it won't install.

The installer icon just bounces on the dock and a window opens with the message saying "Verifying iPhoto Library Upgrader.pkg" and nothing else happens.

I left it running like that for 15-20 minutes but still nothing happened. I rebooted the computer, but had the same problem.

The old iPhoto Library was created on iPhoto '08 version 7.1.5 (378) on an early 2008 iMac.

And I've copied it the library to an early 2009 iMac, with El Capitan (10.11.6) and Photos 1.5 app installed.

Thanks,

Barb

Thanks all, I ended up calling Apple support and they did a screen share and walked me thru it. Since the upgrader.pkg icon on the desktop wasn't working, they had me go to my downloads folder (from the down arrow in the top RH corner of Safari's screen) and click on the upgrader app download from there. An actual install window opened and I was able to install the app, find my old library, and upgrade it.

I have Time Machine connected to the new(er) computer. Maybe I'd be best off just dragging to photos over and importing them into Photos app?

Or I could use the migration assistant and move documents and files only - I assume that would include photos but since I already have most files and all the music already moved, I don't really want to do that and end up with doubles.
