How can update to OS X10.12 to support turbotax

I am trying to load turbotax software but it will not let me open it because I am currently operating OS X 10.11.6 but need OS X 10.12

Is there a way I can upgrade?

you can use Tax over the internet without regard to any Mac OS.

you can do High Sierra but not Mojave.

If you can upgrade to Sierra you can upgrade to High Sierra.

Thank you for responding. I ended up calling apple tech support and was guided through the process of updating my current operating system from OS El Capitan to OS High Sierra which then allowed me to successfully intall my turbotax software. However, I was advised that this is the last upgrade my computer can take so eventually in the near future, II will start looking for a new Mac. Mine is from 2011.
