two factor verification iPod touch and iPhone 4s

The entry boxes for two factor verification do not show on the iPod touch or the iPhone 4s

Found the problem "2-factor authentication, not 2-step verification. 2-factor authentication cannot be used with an iPhone 4 since it requires a device capable of running iOS 9 or newer." From Micheal Black

The suggested solution of turning off authentication and turning on verification is not possible. I am going to set up a new apple id for the two older devices see if that works otherwise they are useless to access apps

If you use two-factor authentication with devices running older OS versions—like an Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation)—you might be asked to add your six-digit verification code to the end of your password when signing in. Get your verification code from a trusted device running iOS 9 and later or OS X El Capitan and later, or have it sent to your trusted phone number. Then type your password followed by the six-digit verification code directly into the password field.
