Direct text copy in Pages 8

How do I copy text from a web page without it trying to turn it into a table in Pages? I used to be able to directly do that but the upgrade? to 8 changed all that to a chart formatting? the text appears in some kind of box that doesn't allow page breaks. It has circles at the 2 corners that adjust lines? and columns?

You open a suitably sized Text box first, copy your web page content, and paste into the Text box. Then you can copy/paste from the Text box into your document body and remove the Text box.

Pages, unlike Word or TextEdit, is absolutely clueless about web content.
