Target Display Mode on iMac 2012 with Mojave and MacBook Pro 2014 with Mojave

Ever since I upgraded to Mojave on both my iMac and my MacBook pro, target Display mode has been acting a bit wonky. Today I upgraded both to 10.14.4, now Target Display does not work at all. I hit command F2 on iMac and the screen goes blank. On the MacBook Pro, it looks like it grabbed the display as the both show up in the display settings menu, but nothing on the iMac. Before Mojave (High Sierra) everything worked fine. Was on with support for 3 hours and no luck. Any one run into this lately? I see some threads that 10.14.1 fixed it back in November......but I am past that. HELP?

Since I first posted this, I have tried new Thunderbolt Cable, no change. I have tried resetting SMC, no Change. I have tried resetting NVRAM, no change. And I have tried another laptop (MacBook Air) and no change. Seems that Apple has broken something with the new OS and not very responsive to fix it. Frustrating for sure when everyday the systems tells you to upgrade...I finally conceded back in Feb and no paying for it. APPLE...PLEASE HELP US. Lots of threads on this issue.

I also have similar problem that Target Display stopped working after upgrading my iMac 2012 to Mojave 10.14.4. I'm connecting a MacBook Pro 2015 via Thunderbolt cable. I've been using this solution to work remotely for few years then it stopped working after applying the latest Mojave 10.14.4 update. Same exact symptoms in that the MacBook Pro grabs the display but I get a blanks screen on my iMac. Apple please help as some customers really need this solution to use a larger display for their work.
