How to hide open app section on dock

Can anyone provide me some advice on how to hide the section on the Dock that shows open apps? Please refer to screen shot.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mac mini, macOS 10.14

Prevent Apps from staying in dock I'm looking for the solution for years, seriously, but still no success. Open apps and remain on dock When I open a app the app remains on the dock and then i have to right click on it to remove remove from dock is there any way to stop the apps from automaically add to dock when I closed them. Instead of having to remove them off the dock. Thank you all for your help.

Apple Menu > System Preferences > Dock

Check the box: 'Minimize windows into application icon':
