Camera flash/flashlight randomly making a strobe light effect in the middle of the night while charging

As I stated, my phone has started to randomly turn into a strobe light in the middle of the night while it is charging. We have cameras set up in our home and I’ve been waking up to 30+ activity notifications from the camera. When I go in to view the activity, it is my iPhone flash flickering off and on very quickly, multiple times on its own. Before you ask, the LED notification setting is and has always been turned off so this is not the problem. Also, I do not have any flashlight apps or sketchy third party apps on my phone. Has anyone else experienced this or know what the problem is?

Hi asnyder006,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you’re having trouble with the flash on your iPhone randomly going off. I’m happy to provide some steps that may help.

To start, I suggest making sure that your iOS is updated:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Should the issue persist, I’d recommend reinstalling iOS. While this shouldn’t remove any data from your device, it’s a good idea to have a backup created first:

How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Then, you’ll want to follow the steps under the section labeled “Put your device in recovery mode and set it up again” in the article below:

If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support

Take care.
