Safari beachballing since latest update

Since the latest updates to Safari 12.1 and MacOS 10.13.6 some days ago, Safari is beach balling.

Other applications, including Firefox, appear to be working properly.

What is going on? What to do?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you for your responses.

The problem has been resolved.

I had a tab that I kept active for the login page of a site that I use frequently. Apparently, that page was consuming increasing amounts of memory — even though I was not logged in, even though I had performed maintenance scripts and cleared cache, even though I had restarted several times, etc. When I closed that tab and restarted, the problem went away.

So, the solution is to close tabs completely from time to time.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.
