My iPhone 7plus is not turning on

Hello,

I am using iPhone 7 plus Rose Gold model. I purchased this phone in July, 2017 .My phone was working fine till 7 pm and suddenly it turned to black screen .I did all the options given on the Apple site for restart. But all my operation didn't work at all.Next day I went to Apple Authorized service station in Jammu and I discussed the issue with them. I waited for 30 mins and after that the technician came ,told me there is some Hardware problem in my mobile. And they told me the repair cost will be RS 33000.

I asked them what is the actually hardware problem ? They were not able to respond my query. My phone screen was working fine everything was working fine.I again asked them is the problem related to the charging port. They were not able to resolve my phone's problem.

Please let me the solution for this issue

Regards,

Shivani

Thanks for replying.I tried with different charger, but nothing happened. It didn't drop.it was on the table and was working absolutely fine. After 5 mins I saw a black screen.I thought maybe battery gone dead.I tried to switched it on,thn I put it on charger after 15 mins I saw its not getting charged. Next day I tried with different charger but it didn't turn on.At service center, initially they told me we will do some test and if there is no current then it might have hardware problem and that will cost u around RS 33000. They checked it and after 30 mins ,the guy came and told me some hardware problem and the cost of changing the whole panel is RS 33000 .I again asked him ,which hardware pArt z not working. He was not able to diagnose.I told him there z no screen damage and water damage, then which hardware pArt is not working..he was blank and I took my mobile back.

Screen is absolutely fine.No such damage on screen.its 2years old phone not under the warranty.I only used apple original charger. It was charged.

I guess 35% battery was remaining at that time. The only thing m surprised about the apple care in Jammu is they didn't give me the proper reason for Hardware failure.I asked them is there any battery problem or charger port issue. They were blank at that time.Any how I will show it to Delhi apple care center for second Opinion.Lets c what will they tell.

Wait, how do they know the cost of the repair without knowing what's wrong with your phone? :)) I mean, that doesn't make much sense to me.

Anyway, so, I've got a question: does the phone actually turn on? Does it react to touch? Does the Home Button react to being pressed? Do you get notifications? If you call your phone from another phone, does it actually ring?

What I'm trying to understand is if it's a problem with the whole phone, or just the screen. It's a hardware issue, for sure, but I'm just curious if it's just the screen or more than that. Or maybe it's something else entirely.

Now, depending on what exactly causes that screen not to turn on (for example water damage, dropped phone, which might signal a motherboard issue) the AASP should be able to better diagnose the issue and offer an actual fix to your problem. Not to mention an answer to your absolutely normal question: "what's wrong with my phone?" :))

If I were to troubleshoot this myself, I would also try a different charger, in case it's the charger. But if you can hear notifications (of course, Ringer needs to be On), it's probably not the charger. Also, when you plug it in for charging, it should make a specific sound. So, if it does, it's not the charger either. And we're back to probably the display, orrr...pray to God it's not the motherboard. Cause Apple doesn't fix motherboards. They could eventually replace the phone entirely. And I'm not sure if that RS 33000 wasn't actually for that...

But I'm a bit surprised they haven't been able to diagnose the issue before asking for a repair fee... :)) I mean...what are you even paying for? How will they fix it? What would they do to your phone? Didn't they say anything about that?

So I guess they wanted to replace the screen. But...I'm not sure it is the screen. I mean, if there was no drop, if there was no water damage...if it doesn't even charge, I'm pretty sure it's not the screen. It could be the battery....or something on the motherboard. Maybe the charging port itself, but unless you played with one of those USB killer devices, I don't think that's it either. So, the port is not fried, the battery could be dead. But to be honest, I've never seen this particular behaviour before. Aaand the last possible cause of the issue could be one of the components on the motherboard going bad.

Do you remember if the phone was charged when it went blank? Also, how old is your battery? Is it the original battery that came with your phone?

Anyway, if that price was for the panel (I'm guessing they want to replace the screen), I would say that's probably not gonna fix anything, since it can't be the screen if the phone doesn't turn on at all.

So, I'd say could be the battery (but not really likely), could be the port (but also, if you didn't use any special charger, or a third party charger not meant for this phone, or stuff like that, it's also unlikely) aaand...last but not least, the motherboard.

Unfortunately, Apple doesn't do motherboard repairs. They will either swap your phone entirely, or replace components, such as the screen. But they won't touch the board. If your phone is still under warranty, I would suggest to go to an Apple Store, or an AASP, and see if they can replace the phone. If it's not, sadly there is no way to fix this with Apple. There are other places who offer this kind of services, but this will also revoke your warranty (if it's still under warranty) and out-of-warranty benefits. Because it's considered "unauthorised intervention on the phone". So...choose wisely. :)

If you got nothing to lose anyway, I guess it doesn't really matter which one you choose. But I'm just putting it out there so you're aware of this. :)
