Hi, my iphone 6s has no picture, the screen is black. I have a lot of old important photos on here and I never got backup to work. Is there a way to get my photos back? It does not recognize my iphone when I plug it into the computer.

If the screen is broken, you can't make anything on that device, sorry.
And yes, unfortunately, you can't have your data back. No backup = No recovery.
Some 3rd party repairers offer you that kind of service, but be careful, it could be a waste of time and money, without any certainty.

The encryption stuff is a furphy. 3rd party repairers doing data recovery are just repairing the phone sufficiently to get it working long enough to recover the data. They don't get involved in the encryption at all, so it's not an issue.
As already said in my previous post, I would be very careful.
I didn't have any direct experience, so I can't judge. Rumors are not good.
If you decide to go that way, evaluate your risks before proceeding.

Try a forced restart of your 6s:
Press and hold both the Home and the Side (power) buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo. When it appears, release both buttons, wait for your device to restart, then test it.
If you get no help, it could be a hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store or Authorized Service Provider and have your device inspected. After checking it out, they'll give you all the available options:
