I'm sorry if this question looks stupid. I am a new iPhone 6 user and until now I don't know how to take screenshots.
I tried by pressing the power button and home button but nothing happened.

That is the correct way to do it. Maybe try holding the power button down first and then quickly tap the home button. You have to release the power button fairly quickly or you will just put the phone to sleep.

It should work by pressing and holding the Side (power) button, then press and quickly release (click) the Home button.
