MacBook Air won't sync photos

Hi

When I try to switch on iCloud sync for Photos I get this instruction:

Open Photos to choose or create a library to use with iCloud Photos.

I open Photos and nothing happens. In my Pictures folder there is a single library called Photos Library which opens when I open Photos, so I can't see where the confusion is coming from.

Will that library in the Pictures folder open when you double click on it? If so then go to the Photos ➙ Prefences ➙ General preference pane and click on the long button to the right that is the System Photos Library.

Once done go to the iCloud pane and select the items you want to enable.
