i wanted to disable squeaks and squawks etc and stop being a pest

Use theatre mode. Swipe up and touch the two faces on your control centre
I assume that is the icon on the bottom right
Theatre mode seems favorable as it also saves power by keeping the screen off all the time

right now the theatre mode seems to be best, keep quiet for court
