Numbers-How to project timeline

I am creating a project timeline and wanted to do it in numbers. Is it actually possible? It is very simple in excel and I feel like I am missing something. Is this really not a feature?

I think you are wanting to make a Gantt chart?

Have a look at this Numbers document (Dropbox download).

It shows several ways to create a project timeline in Numbers.

Am curious about the "very simple" way you can do this in Excel.
