I am using MacBook Pro and cannot seem to get the Numbers icon on my Dock. When I looked it up on Google it tells me it should be a free download. Please give advice as I keep getting asked for credit card info and still does not let me in.

Items in the dock represent either:

  • an application that is running (which is indicated by a dot below the icon) or
  • a shortcut to an application (one with out a dot)

you can force an icon to stay in the dock by right clicking the icon in the Dock and selecting the menu item "Options > Keep In Dock" (the application will have to be already running and visible in the dock):

you can add an application to the dock by locating the application, then drag and drop in the dock
