Apple ID disabled

I received an email purporting to be from Apple telling me they have disabled my account and if I do not respond within 48 hours my account will be suspended and any saved account info "will be lost!"

The 'Update Account' link provided takes me to a page that asks for (demands) intensely personal info, ., social security #, full name and address, cc numbers, etc.

I do not want Apple to have all this.

What can I do?

Please help.

That is a scam email. Apple doesn't send emails when your ID is disabled. They notify you when you attempt to login.
