All I'm trying to do is manage my Apple ID on appleid.apple.com. I enter my Apple ID and password and then the verification code. The verification code is accepted, but it redirects me to the login again and says, "This session has timed out for your security."

It might be something related to browser cookies. I went into Chrome preferences, cleared all apple-related cookies, refreshed the browser and tried to logon again. Worked for me right away.

Curiously, after the problem was solved in Chrome following my cookie-clearing action there, I had no further problem (even without clearing cookies) in Firefox or Safari (both of which had previously failed with the same time-out problem). So I now surmise that the problematic setting was not so much in a browser cookie as in some other apple-related pref file somewhere that was reset as a result of the Chrome cookie-clearing.

Then again, it might just be a coincidence that whatever it was went away at the same time I cleared Chrome cookies. I have no way to do further testing now that the issue is gone. So good luck!

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply        Pastebin
