My ipod classic will not turn off after holding the menu and center key for more than 10 seconds. How can I reset.

Let the device run completely flat. Put it back on charge. It should reset itself when it wakes up.

I'll give this a try but the screen is on and the battery charge indicator is still full and has been this way for hours. I am leaving the ipod in the unlocked position.
