Can i delete library\Containers\ ??

Hello my friends! I need help, i'm running low on disk space on my SSD 256GB macbook.

I installed omnisweeper and i found that inside my library\containers\ i have a folder named ".com.apple.medialibraryservice" that is using 91GB of space! :o

the complete path is:

\library\containers\.com.apple.medialibraryservice\data

Can i delete this folder? without no arm to my data?

I just dont want to loose any data (videos or images) ... that may be attached to this folder.

I also don't know what is this folder.

Did you look inside the com.apple.MediaLibraryService folder to see what is taking up all the space? My entire Containers folder which contains 270+ folders only uses 4.22GBs, and the com.apple.MediaLibraryService folder, only 12.2MBs.

As far as whether you should delete the folder, no.

If you have a Time Machine or other backup I would say it's safe to empty that folder. If it causes any problem you can always restore it from your back up. I believe those files are just left over cache files.

Thank you for your answers. I digged up a little more and inside that folder i have:

data\library\caches\.com.apple.ilifemediabrowser.ilphotostranscodecache\

This folder is consuming almost 90GB. Inside of the folder i have hundreds of files with random names of around 500mb each

Should i delete them all?

Ps. booted into safe mode...everything stayed the same

Hi macjack. thank you for your answer.

I saw the article... but it's not exactly the same situation. On the article the user complains about the memory usage (RAM) that the service was using.

I don't have memory usage problem, my problem relies on storage space. This folder on my mac has 90GB of space used.

Any ideas? Can i delete it?

Have read through this discussion, it talks about “Containers” being the “Sandbox” that Apps use to exchange data so removal of all or part would probably stop some function of certain Apps.

Saying that, macOS is usually quite good a clearing out junk, have you considered booting into Safe Mode to see if that reduces the size a little.
