cannot change mp3 files to audiobook

Using iTunes for Windows Version 12.9.4.102.

I have some mp3 files for an audiobook that i ripped (legally) from CDs.

I added them to my iTunes library by adding the folder.

They showed up in the Music section.

I clicked on them and oped "Album Info," went to the Options tab, and changed the media type to Audiobook.

So far so good. I've done this before. In the past what happens is the audiobook moves to the audiobook section of my library, and from there I add it to my iPhone.

But this time it stayed in the Music section - it will not move.

How can I get it to the audiobooks part of my library (so that I can listen with the Books app, instead of the Music app?

iPhone 6 Plus, iOS 12

Followed your steps, but it still didn't work, but your post gave me a thought - so I checked my iTunes preferences and found that the box for "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library" was unchecked.

  • I deleted my audiobook from Music.
  • I re-imported it to the library.
  • Then I went to Music and was able to chance the media type to Auiobook!

Thanks - your post led right to my solution.
